Hello!

I downloaded
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_10_linux.deb to upgrade my old Flash v10 in Debian, but I am getting problems:

# dpkg --install install_flash_player_10_linux.deb
(Reading database ... 162227 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace adobe-flashplugin 10.0.22.87-1 (using install_flash_player_10_linux.deb) ...

dpkg: warning: old pre-removal script returned error exit status 2
dpkg - trying script from the new package instead ...

postinst called with argument `abort-upgrade'
dpkg: error while cleaning up:
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

# dpkg --remove adobe-flashplugin
dpkg: error processing adobe-flashplugin (--remove):

reinstall it before attempting a removal.

adobe-flashplugin

If I try to reinstall it, then I get the same results in the beginning. How do I fix this?

Thank you in advance.

Fixed it from http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/debian-26/sid-adobe-flasplugin-is-reinstall-required-but-apt-cant-find-archive-for-it-727572/ and http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/debian-26/cant-open-synaptic-after-trying-install-flash-deb-of-ubuntu-739384/:

"... edit file /var/lib/dpkg/info/adobe-flashplugin.prerm and removed all lines after set -e. This solved the problem."

(1) download flash for firefox, but DONT INSTALL YET! (2) right-click firefox, select PROPERTIES. (3) click on COMPATABILITY tab. (4) select the RUN PROGRAM IN WINDOWS XP SP2 MODE. (5) click APPLY. (6) click CLOSE. (7) do the EXACT SAME for the FLASH PLAYER file you just downloaded. (8) now right click the FLASH PLAYER INSTALLER and click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. (9) goto the firefox shortcut and right click and select OPEN FILE LOCATION. (10) right click that file and look for the RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, IF it is there then click it and run direfox, if not select OPEN FILE LOCATION AGAIN. (11) then right click it and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
NOW GO TO YOUR FAVORITE FLASH SITE, and you'll see that you can have your favorite browser AND flash, without having to run INTERNET EXPLODER.

Hope this helps.
