H.264 is a challenge even for the beefiest computer systems (Mac or
Windows). If you want to use that camera to produce videos, you will
need to invest heavily in both hardware and software upgrades.
So say I invested in a new system
Will I still have problems in Premiere? Regardless of Mac vs Pc?
Hard to say. I've got 8 cores and 16 GB of RAM, and the few 5D Mark II
clips I've been able to test are still choppy both in Quicktime Player
Pro and Premiere Pro.
In Pr 4.1, 5D Mark II footage plays and edits like 1080p30 AVCHD footage
did in Pr 4.0. As a counterpoint, 1080p30 AVCHD footage Pr 4.1 plays
and edits now as smooth as glass. So there are obviously some
optimizations for footage from the 5D that are necessary, just like
there were for AVCHD.
So how T1i 720p30 footage will play and edit is a big fat mystery. But
unless you have a quad-core system with sufficient RAM, you don't stand
