How do I accept edits in a composite document?

    zeppm Community Member

I use FrameMaker 8. I have two documents which required work within the same time.  Now that one document is completely finished and approved, I must take the content of that document and make sure it gets into the second document.  I made quite a few minor changes into the first document, so it would be quite tedious to hand type and edit all those changes.  The Compare Documents feature works great, and the composite document produces a document that is exactly what I need.  However, when I go into that document to accept those changes, it won't allow me to do so.

Is there a way to accept and deny those changes?  The tracked changes in the composite look exactly those you have when you Track Text Edits.

      Thanks!

          Not really.

Use the Find > Conditional Text (Delected or Added) to locate what you need in the CMP doc and then copy&paste in the required doc.

          Tedious, but doable.

            Hi,

When you create a composite document with the Compare Documents feature,

FrameMaker assigns regular conditions to added or deleted text. You cannot

accept/reject these conditions with the Track Text Edits toolbar.

With the Track Text Edits toolbar you can only accept/reject edits which were

created with the "Track Text Edits" feature enabled. These aren't regular conditions.

Therefore you should just delete the Deleted condition (select "Delete the text")

and the Inserted condition (select "Make the text unconditional") in your composite

            document.

            Best regards
