    stand-alone catalyst

    nat.b Level 1

      Hi!

First of all, I think Flash Catalyst is great!

I have an existing Flex3/FlashPro aplication and after playing around a bit

I think I can retrofit my present <mxml:ViewStack> construction by using custom

components (performance problems I can accept for now).

Before starting on this, a quick check -

      - Adobe is regarding Catalyst not just as a bridging tool, but also considering

aspects regarding its use as a stand-alone authoring tool, right?

      - External link embedment is forseen for later, right?

      Questions-

Will there later be better publishing options in Catalyst for the html presentation -

full page, page background color, etc.?

Is there any help for getting smart quickly about scalibility aspects?

      Thanks,

      Natalie

Glad to hear you like Catalyst! Below are the answers to your questions:

          > Adobe is regarding Catalyst not just as a bridging tool, but also considering

          > aspects regarding its use as a stand-alone authoring tool, right?

Yes, Catalyst can be used alone to start and complete projects, or the fxp file generated from Catalyst can be brought over to Flash Builder to add functionality beyond what Catalyst can do.

          > External link embedment is forseen for later, right?

Are you referring to link embedding things like images and external swf files? I am pretty sure we are strongly considering adding this functionality, but I don't know if it committed yet. We are definitely aware that is a useful feature.

          > Will there later be better publishing options in Catalyst for the html presentation -

Publishing options will be available in the next beta release.

          > Is there any help for getting smart quickly about scalibility aspects?

Are you talking about building scalable components or scalable applications?
