    New Styles for Pop-up Menus

    Brad2525
I have been looking for new styles for pop-up menus. What i want is to have a border with that has rounded edges. If some one could point me to templates i can install for fireworks, i would be grateful.

      Thanks,

      Brad

I don't recommend you use the FW pop-up menus at all. They are quite poorly
          implemented.

There are much better ways -

Check the uberlink and MacFly tutorials at PVII
          ( http://www.projectseven.com/)

and the Navbar tutorial/articles at Thierry's place
          ( http://tjkdesign.com/navbars/)

Or to get it done fast, go here -

There's no way to get a rounded pop up box.

Hi Murray. I was interested in your reply about not using Fireworks for popups. I understood that FW was the way go to instead of using Dreamweaver.

I'll take a look at the links you suggested but I've invested so much time into FW I'd now hate to learn something else as I have a deadline to get my buttons and popups working.

I always think of the epithet that goes "If you don't have time to do it
right the first time, where do you get the time to do it over?"....

The FW menus are poop. I just don't know how else to put it. Just look at
the code. Can you imagine trying to figure out which of the 20 or so styles
in your stylesheet apply to which of the elements in the menu? I cannot.
Any menu system that could add 2000-3000 lines of CSS to my stylesheet for
only a moderately complex menu would never darken my door, so to speak.

I'm sorry to be so outspoken about this, but the fact that you have trusted
Macromedia to do the right thing and devoted hours in using the feature only
to have them abandon you down this black hole just gets my goat....

Hmmm, why don't you tell me what you really mean! lol.

At this (deadline) point, I just want to get the job done. My nature is to keep at things to figure them out, however, get the job done and then spend the time to do it better.
My probem is in FW. I created a button from their 3 stage template, added my text to the buttons, four of them, however I want to re-size the buttons so they are the size of the text, with a bit of space on either side naturallly. I can re-size the visible part of the button, however in browser in moving the mouse of the 'smaller' button, it highlights the original too large button size.

Really, all I want to get is how to TOTALLY re-size their template button to my own liking, without compromising the text which ultimately ends up scrunched and/or with the transparent part of the button that I thought I got rid of being highlighted.

I'm not wedded to FW as the end all, but just for the immediate, I need to get a working template (and these 34 buttons would be a template from which I would create other pages for this website). It's just that I understood from searching around that popup menus were 'better' in FW than DW particularly when creating the navigation bar/popup menu as a template.

Thanks very much for the reply. Tag?
