i think you should use parent, not parentApplication.
besides, make sure you have userpassword in your parent window.
I wouldn't expect parentApplication.userpassword to show in autocomplete unless userpassword has a public setter function defined.
I think popups are in their own display list below systemManager, so I always recommend using custom events to pass data between app and popups.
My Flex Cookbook post on custom events will help, as will this other link. Notice in my Cookbook post how I addEventListener() to the systemManager instead of to the application.If this post answers your question or helps, please mark it as such.
Thanks from your answer.
I did not get it working yet.
Here's what I'm trying:
from the main application window i open the Titlewindow "popscreen1" :
var helpWindow:TitleWindow =
TitleWindow(PopUpManager.createPopUp(this, popscreen1, false));
In this popup-screen:
parent.password.text = userpassword.text;
And I also tried:
parentApplication.password.text = userpassword.text;
With both tests nothing happens.
That link did not work?
I finally found a useful tutorial by which I was able to get the result I needed. It wasn't just as simple as I was hoping for...but well sometimes it just isn't I'd say the key was to use the addEventListener from the main application (just as Greg suggested, thanks).
Here's the link if someone else is banging his/hers head with the same problem:
