I hope somebody can help because all of my major files are in pdf. First, this only happens with pdf. I have no problem with Microsoft Office applications.
I was using Acrobat Reader 9.1 and whenever I opened a pdf file, it closed automatically within a few seconds. I removed all of the Acrobat Reader 9 versions and tried Acrobat Reader 8. The same thing happens. I can not get a pdf file to stay open. It closes in about 5 seconds after I open it. I've tried older files that I know worked well and they still close. I have checked my system for viruses, trojans and worms and the system comes up clean - no infections. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 9 and the dilemma continues. I'm baffled! Can anybody suggest a possible fix?
Do you have Acrobat and Reader? If so that may be part of your problem.
I have Acrobat 8 Professional, Acrobat Distiller 8 and Acrobat Live Cycle Designer 8.0. I have removed the Acrobat Reader, and rebooted the system and the pdf files continue to close automatically.
I'm running Windows XP Professional.
