Don't have the animation for mouse over within a button. Have that animation as it's own movie clip, and upon mouse over, script it to play that movie clip using frame labels.
I really need step by step instructions and lingo (frame labels?) explanations. Thanks for the quick replay though!
is an example of what I mean. I also included some AS to not allow the animation to restart each time you mouse over - this causes a choppy effect otherwise - you will see looking at the 2 buttons - to see the animation clip on the stage, you can make the layer with the red buttons invisible, double click on the blue movie clip, notice the frame label "open" and action script I placed on the end frame. You should be able to figure out the rest from the notes I placed on the flash file.
In the action script you've put at the end of the frame:
_root.mcMenuOpened = false;// once the animation is finished, you can allow the animation to begin again on mouse over
What does "mcMenuOpened" refer to? I'm trying to find the parallel in my project but can't seem to. Thanks!
It's just a variable I created to act as a toggle between "is the menu animation playing or not".
I looked at the file you sent and tried to imitate hat you've done but it doesnot' seem to be working for me. What part tells the button to play the the animation? When I did everything When I would mouseover the button the animation wouldn't play.
The action script is on the first frame of the timeline where it says on rollOver gotoAndPlay. The only other script is on the last frame of the mcMenu movie clip.
