1. Re: Links within a PPT file do not appear as such in PDF
Bill@VT Aug 15, 2009 8:01 AM (in response to cegnm)With OFFICE 2007 and AA5 or AA6, you can only print to the Adobe PDF printer (or Acrobat Distiller printer). To get the links automatically converted you have to use PDF Maker that would require at least AA8.1.3 with OFFICE 2007. Have fun adding the links in the PDF, or select to upgrade to AA9.

cegnm Aug 15, 2009 8:16 AM (in response to Bill@VT)Fine Bill, now we have two threads... You mentioned Distiller printer. The AA6 didnt install it, as my old AA5 on another computer did. Or am I messing up something, was it my old Pagemaker years ago who installed the PS printers - I forgot...

3. Re: Links within a PPT file do not appear as such in PDF
Bill@VT Aug 15, 2009 6:58 PM (in response to cegnm)I mentioned the Acrobat Distiller printer (the old name for the Adobe PDF printer) because you mentioned both AA5 and AA6. The AD printer is what is used by AA5 and the Adobe PDF printer is what is used by AA6. If you are using both on the same machine, the AD printer will probably not work correctly, or ultimately the Adobe PDF printer functionality will override it. Being I do not know your setup, I included both in the comment. You should use the Adobe PDF printer. However, in either case, printing to the printer will not preserve the links. You can only preserve those by using PDF maker that is not available for WORD 2007 with such old AA versions (need at least AA8.1.3). Thus, you will need to add the links manually to the PDF.
I do not know what you mean by 2 threads, unless you created another one some place else. I was just responding to your post.

4. Re: Links within a PPT file do not appear as such in PDF
cegnm Aug 16, 2009 1:46 AM (in response to Bill@VT)Thanks Bill, printer and hyperlinks issue clear now.
Still pending: invoking the menu point "Create PDF from file" from within the AA6 does convert various file types but doesnt allow to change settings (button "Settings" grayed out.) For WORD etc. not important, as this can be done out from WORD itself. But it is very useful for converting multiple JPG's to one PDF without invoking a graphic program but seems to produce the high quality only. Any idea?

5. Re: Links within a PPT file do not appear as such in PDF
Bill@VT Aug 16, 2009 6:13 PM (in response to cegnm)For JPegs, open Acrobat and select the EDIT>Preferences and adjust the to PDF settings for the JPeg. Then select the File>Open and change the file type to JPeg, opening the first one of interest. Then in Document>InsertPages, add the rest of the JPegs. The order is sometimes a problem. You can also open Acrobat and then simply do a drag and drop of the collection of JPegs from Windows Explorer. Again, be sure the conversions are set in the preferences.

6. Re: Links within a PPT file do not appear as such in PDF
cegnm Aug 17, 2009 4:37 AM (in response to Bill@VT)Thats the key Bill - Edit preferences in AA! Settings for Office files work perfectly. For JPEG settings, which I actually need, the "Compression" part of the menu is grayed out, only the color management is editable. But other formats like TIFF, PNG etc. can be editted. Any idea?

7. Re: Links within a PPT file do not appear as such in PDF
Bill@VT Aug 17, 2009 6:28 AM (in response to cegnm)Nope. However, JPeg has never been a good format for use with Acrobat. You may want to resave it to TIFF before import.

8. Re: Links within a PPT file do not appear as such in PDF
cegnm Aug 17, 2009 8:13 AM (in response to Bill@VT)Yes, this is true with JPG. The point is, that I want to use this simple shortcut method of converting whatever JPG (not for printing purposes) without invoking Photoshop or whatever and then print to Adobe PDF from there. Actually it's not a real "problem", I just wonder how come that edit preferences doesnt allow JPG settings but for all other formats it does. Seems not so logical.
