1. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Harm Millaard Aug 15, 2009 11:19 AM (in response to Sengstack)That is the perpetual question, do they work or do they not work?
Luckily, your question makes that clear. They do or they don't, it depends.

2. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Sengstack Aug 16, 2009 3:29 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)I didn't know this was the perpetual question. I searched the forum for Page Up and Next Edit and came away empty handed.
Are you saying this is a known bug with CS4? It worked fine in CS3.

3. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
JSS1138 Aug 16, 2009 3:36 PM (in response to Sengstack)Works fine for me in both 4.0 and 4.1.

4. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Harm Millaard Aug 16, 2009 3:37 PM (in response to Sengstack)If you mean with the timeline active, does Page Down move the CTI to the next edit point, the answer is yes and Page Up moves the CTI to the previous edit point. So it works, at least here.

5. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Bill Hunt Aug 16, 2009 3:41 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)with the timeline active,
I wonder if this is the OP's problem. The Timeline must have focus. Now, if one just dragged an Effect, or a Transition to the Timeline, the focus will still be on the Effects Panel, so no PageUp/PageDn. Click the Timeline to give it focus.
Good luck,
Hunt

6. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Sengstack Aug 16, 2009 3:51 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Page Up & Page Down do not work when either the Timeline is active (in focus) or the Effect Controls panel is active. They work only when the Program Monitor is active. They also works with Markers in the Source Monitor.

7. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
JSS1138 Aug 16, 2009 3:55 PM (in response to Sengstack)That's not normal. Something went wrong somewhere. Though I'm at a loss for guesses.

8. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Harm Millaard Aug 16, 2009 3:59 PM (in response to Sengstack)Here they work both with the timeline active and the program monitor active and the CTI moves in the timeline, even with the program monitor active. Maybe try a repair install. You did not change your keyboard settings to cause this, did you?

9. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Bill Hunt Aug 16, 2009 6:57 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)Harm,
You are correct. I'd forgotten about the "overlap" in certain Panels, just like Play in the Timeline and in Audio Mixer, etc.
To the OP, something is very wrong.
Repair Install, after a vid-card driver update, just to be sure, would be my first choice.
Good luck,
Hunt

10. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Sengstack Aug 16, 2009 10:13 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)I did a complete uninstall/reinstall of CS4 Premium Production (after a single uninstall/reinstall of P Pro CS4 did not make a difference). This too did not make a difference.
However...I started two new projects and the Page Up & Page Down shortcut keys work in both. I went back to the older project and the Page Up & Page Down keys continue to NOT work.
I did not change the Keyboard Customization in any project. All projects use the Factory Defaults.

11. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Harm Millaard Aug 17, 2009 12:58 AM (in response to Sengstack)Chances are this project is corrupted. Create a new project, import the troublesome project into it, open the bin that contains this imported project in the project panel and double click on the sequence to open the timeline.

12. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Colin Brougham Aug 17, 2009 6:26 AM (in response to Sengstack)In order for Page Up/Down to work in the Timeline panel, you need to have one or more target track selectors activated, as in this screen grab:
With Video 1 selected (indicated by the lighter gray color), with the Timeline panel active you can use the Page Up/Down keys to jump from one edit to the previous/next edit. If no tracks are targeted, then those keys will NOT work in the Timeline panel. Oddly enough, and perhaps somewhat inconsistently so, Page Up/Down WILL work in the Program Monitor panel, seeming to default to Video 1.
Short story: the target track selectors dictate which edits the Page Up/Down keys will navigate to whilst in the Timeline panel. Activate a track or tracks, and the shortcuts will work.

Sengstack Aug 17, 2009 9:28 AM (in response to Colin Brougham)The tracks were targeted.

14. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Sengstack Aug 17, 2009 9:30 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)How the project file got corrupted (or even if it was corrupted)...I don't know. But, I have deleted the offending PRPROJ file, started over with the same assets and now all is working according to expectations.

15. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Bill Hunt Aug 17, 2009 10:32 AM (in response to Sengstack)That IS an odd one. Glad that you got it sorted, but sorry that you had to start a new Project.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - not that long ago, I had a Sequence, where I added additional Audio Tracks. When I went to Rename them, as is my practice, Audio 5 would NOT accept a Rename. All others did. Deleted and Added a few more times, with the same exact results. Other Sequences were perfectly fine and allow for Renaming of all Audio Tracks (including Audio 5). It was just this one Sequence - weird. Never figured that one out, and was too lazy to redo the complete Sequence. Just left Audio 5, as Audio 5.

16. Re: Page Up & Page Down don't work in P Pro CS4 Timeline panel
Sengstack Aug 17, 2009 11:33 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Regarding your PS...In this instance, I was also unable to change the name of the Sequence. I double-clicked on the name and right-clicked on it but could not change its name. Chalk it up to random weirdness.
