Every time I start up my computer or try to open Adobe Reader 9 from my desktop I receive the following message: AcroRd32.exe
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.3053_x-ww_b80fa8ca\MS VCP80.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
It happened after I downloaded some windows automatic updates and a recent update from Adobe.
I have tried de-installing and reinstalling Adobe Reader twice.
I have Windows XP home and use Mozilla Firefox.
Please could someone help me with this problem as I haven't been able to contact Adobe for techincal support because 'I have not registered my product' and when I try to it still doesn't register.
It sounds as if some of your VC runtime files are damaged. Replace the files with the ones in the attached ZIP archive.
If you want to be on the safe side, backup the 3 original files before you replace them.
