    xmlHttpRequest security question

    jshrek Level 1

      Hi

I am new to AIR and am writing an application using HTML and JavaScript. I need to retrieve a file from our remote server, and want to know if this is secure...

Our server has an SSL certificate, and the file is in a directory that requires a username and password (via htaccess). If I use https:// (instead of http://) in the open request, is this secure? Do I need to do anything else or is security all taken care of because I am using the https?

When my code connects to the remote server it asks for the username and password and then succesfully retrieves the file... I just want to make sure that it is secure and that I do not have to do anything else.

      Example:

      XMLHttpRequest.open("get", "https://mydomain.com/mydir/myfile.txt", true)

      Thanks
