Thank you for your post. Are you trying to open them in Acrobat.com? Or on your desktop? You should try downloading the latest version of Adobe Reader - you can get it for free, here:
Let me know if you continue to have trouble. You may also want to check with the sender to make sure the files are ok on their end.
Thanks for your reply....
I have Adobe Reader 9,Adobe Acrobat 6.0. Nothing works.... I tried downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader an error message says it could not down load this application. They all worked in the past.
When I receive a PDF attachment via email, the attachment does not identify itself as a PDF as it had in the past. When I click to open it opens in Word to gibberish.
That's my frustrating situation. I hope you have additional ideas has how to fix this issue. My operating system is Vista Home premium.
I'm sorry for the trouble. I'm moving this thread over to the Adobe Reader forums as it's not an Acrobat.com issue. Good luck!
If you are trying to open the files that you have posted, they are .txt files and won't open in Reader.
Reader only opens .PDF files.
They are PDF files from a sent via email that when clicked open in Word format but in Jibberish...
Ok. You posted text files for some reason.
It looks like your file assoctiations are messed up. Save one of the files to your hard drive, highlight it and right click. Choose "Open with" and select Reader. If Reader isn't on the immediate drop down list select "choose program" and then go find Reader.
Alternately, you can save the files to your hard drive, open Reader first then choose File>Open.
I had the same problem. My version of RoboHelp is pretty old (x5) and the problem was with pdfs made up in version 9. Some pdfs would open and some would not. It depended on the version used to make the pdf. Got error messages and corrupted file messages.
I solved the problem by using the full version of Acrobat and using the pdf Optimizer to make compatible with version 5( just to make sure).
Another option is to "print" to the pdf printer when the file is open.
Both then can be imported into RoboHelp without a problem
Hope this helps. It ruined many days at work for me while I tried to figure out what on earth I was going to do.
