I am running AE CS3 126.96.36.199 on an iMac 2GHz Power PC G5, with 2GB SDRAM with OSX 10.4.11. My graphics card is a ATI Radeon 9600.
When I go to the AE preferences/preview the enable open GL box is not clickable. When I go to "open GL info" it tells me:
Vendor: "No compatible OpenGL video card found"
Renderer: "The graphics driver might require an update"
Now according to Radeon they support OpenGL 2.0 and I installed the latest drivers for the card.
Any idea of how to solve this?
There are a number of required OpenGL features that the 9x00 Radeon cards don't support. Unfortunately, as of CS3 and later, these cards are no longer supported for Fast Previews.
Thank you Adolfo. That totally sucks. Fortunately I also have a 17" Mac Book Pro with an Nvidia GeForce 8600 card which should be able to work ok. I just was hoping to get a better advantage of the larger screen on my iMac (20"). Live & learn.
Unfortunately, the Radeon 9600 card is more than 5-6 years old (I remember the first generation G5s had them back in 2003!), and for graphics cards/OpenGL, that's a really, really long time
