1. Re: Adobe Media Encoder CS4 crash on startup
nikokanakis Aug 26, 2009 12:16 AM (in response to nikokanakis)Hello,
I mentioned this to a friend of mine who also did some searching for me, on my behalf and found an older thread:
[Hi,
[
[I had this problem to with the watchfolder.dll file being the issue.
[
[I re-installed CS4 but this still didn't fix it... this made me realise the conflict was elsewhere.
[
[In c:\Users\'your account'\appdata\roaming\adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\ is a file called 'Watch Folder Info.xml' - I copied (to somewhere safe) and [deleted the file and AME started without any problems again....I tried this and now AME works again!....BUT, now Premiere won't start. Still in early phases of troubleshooting, but hopefully will have this resolved soon.

teamhood Dec 28, 2009 11:15 AM (in response to nikokanakis)I just wanted to bump this to the top of the forum as I was having the exact same problem. AME CS4 was working for months and then all of a sudden it would crash before it would start.
I'm running the most updated CS4 for all packages.
Win7 - 64bit
Intel Q6600 CPU
4GB RAM
I actually removed the file from the roaming folder and this allowed AME to startup! What is Watch Folder Info.xml?

anncalli Mar 24, 2010 2:16 PM (in response to nikokanakis)I'm having the same problem. The preloading screen crashes before the application starts. This began after I bought a new Snow Leopard iMac. I'm running CS4.

nikokanakis Mar 24, 2010 7:39 PM (in response to anncalli)Hi Anna,
I am running PC, but the only thing that worked was to uninstall my Premiere
Pro and then reinstall the entire thing and don't forget about the updates.
There are four updates for both Premiere and Media Encoder. Now, it's
working like a charm. I hope this helps. I was frustrated for over a week
with that!

I searched tha roaming folder in the application data of the administrator folder (I'm the Administrator) from the utents folder. but I didn't find it.
Please can someone help me?

cutmymovie Sep 1, 2010 11:37 AM (in response to nikokanakis)You can do a search for Watch Folder Info.xml in WINDOWS XP or it's located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\
I'm not sure about any of the following, but it seemed to help me.
Deleted the file. Starting up Premiere CS4 and Adobe Media Encoder seems to have created a new Watch Folder Info.xml file automatically in the above folder.
I also updated Apple Quicktime as I think I saw that somewhere and it usually doesn't hurt to do so.

Will Munny Oct 26, 2010 1:49 AM (in response to nikokanakis)Hi everybody again,
I hope someone can help me. I already openede a topic about my problem but I didn't receive replies so i write here too.
I've got another problem with Media Encoder CS4. When I export a project, after a few minutes, the export process stops and appears a dialogue box that tells: "PPro Headless. exe has stopped working". In the box i choose the option "Close the application" and so, after other few minutes, the export process goes on again. How can I avoid that?
I've got Premiere CS4 on a Win 7 64 bit System with intel Quad Core Q6600 and 4Gb RAM.
Thank you everybody.

11. Re: Adobe Media Encoder CS4 crash on startup
Clover@New Story Media Apr 27, 2011 8:26 AM (in response to nikokanakis)Ok so here's what happened to me: AME gave me the error "AME stopped working" It was working just fine the day before. Here is a list in sequence of what I did to try to resolve this issue. Reboot program, reboot computer, moved the project to its own Terabyte hard drive to make sure I had enough room to create the temp folders it needed when AME exports, Uninstalled all of the CS4 create suite then reinstalled and downloaded the 834MB update file, Prayed really hard, search forums, Cried out to God, came across this thread but it didn't sound right that all I had to do was delete a one KB xml file. But I started down that path anyway. c:\Users\'your account'\appdata\roaming\adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\ is a file called 'Watch Folder Info.xml' Im running Windows 7 and I had to show hidden folders http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial151.html once I could see the folders I had to take control of them. I thought I was the system admin but it didn't appear that way so I had to take ownership of the file http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-me nu-in-vista/ I finally got in and deleted the file and now it is working. It automatically created another watchfolder.xml but its still working. I think this is ridiculous that Adobe has this issue. It seems every 4 months or so PP has this huge issue that stops all my work. If wish I could find something more reliable but I have invested to many years into PP. I'm stuck.
