1. Re: lining up text in inDesign document
FivePicaPica Aug 26, 2009 10:44 AM (in response to maf79)Yep, baseline grid is the simplest way. It also helps to change the Text Frame Options > Baseline Options > First Baseline to Offset: Cap Height (or at least not Ascent)
I usualy set my baseline grid to half (or third) of my leading to allow for bigger headings and some flexibility with the layout.

maf79 Aug 26, 2009 11:21 AM (in response to FivePicaPica)I think you have answered my question. I also haven't used paragraph styles a lot. I use it a little but I know not to its full advantage. It's something that I've started using a little here and there so this helps.
Thanks!!!!

FivePicaPica Aug 26, 2009 11:32 AM (in response to maf79)If you're just getting a handle on the program, I'd suggest picking up one of the Visual Quickstart guides. They're not as complete as some others but they're pretty cheap and a huge timesaver. For $20 or so, it's worth having on your desk.

6. Re: lining up text in inDesign document
maf79 Aug 26, 2009 11:37 AM (in response to maf79)I've actually been using Indesign for quite a long time (I know, it's shocking that I don't use paragraph styles much for someone who uses indesign everyday).
There are just a few basic things that would make my life easier that I never have used, or I've used them minimally. I've just decided I need to learn them FINALLY.
