1. A project file is loaded and then Premiere starts generating the audio peak file i the background as shown in the bottom right corner.
2. After the bar reaches the far right end. Premeire stops responding and hangs.
In this case I had an AVI file that had a lot corrupted video and audio at the end of file. Apparently if it reaches the end of file and it is corrupted, it may hang sometimes.
I entered the organize tab, Opened up the AVI file in the organize tab and deleted the corrupted scenes at the end of the file. After this was removed, the peak file generated normally.
There are some other resolutions to this problem in the Premiere Pro forum.
