DE never shows "Downloading"

I'm trying to read a book that I bought from eBooks.com on my Mac.  When I click the download link, I end up with the .acsm file saved to my desktop.  I made sure I had selected for it to open with DE.  If I drag the .ascm files to the reader or the startup icon nothing happens.  I opened one ascm file and used the url inside to download the file.  That seemed to work, but I can not add that copy to DE.  If I try to Add to Library I get an error (2038).  Does anyone have any advice?

I disconnected and reconnected my network connection and it started working.  Go figure.
