I'm happily going about my business with InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat, generating a large PDF of about 400 MB with jpeg 2000 compressed images. I open the PDF in Reader and it takes about 10 seconds to show the first page. The same for the next, and so on. When I go back a page, the display is almost instant.
Okay. So I shut down every other program except Reader. No change. Images slowly appear, one section at a time.
So I log out and log back in with only Reader running. Pages now display in a second or two.
Why? It almost appears as if one of the other programs is still hogging RAM or whatever, and OSX hasn't told it to get lost when I quit. Any suggestions most appreciated as to what I should be doing to increase the speed, without having to log out.
