    flash objects and detection

I am not a coder and have no real interest in code unless it makes things move about. I'm a film maker and an animator and only use code when I absolutely have to. I always like to strip what code I do use down to the bare minimum. I have been experimenting with some different methods of diagnostic for on site entry.

One thing that bugs me is Flash detection. The script it uses is very slow and rather unresponsive (a bit like this site) it is probably necessary but a bit of a pain too use.

I use a method that sends the visitor to the flash site automatically if they have it or to a non flash site if they don’t. I figure that if they don't have flash they don't want it. The method I use is very simple and dates back a ways. I have a flash movie on the entry page that has no graphics and one frame with an action that just calls a new page. It’s only a flash 8 movie but the page it calls has the latest detection script. If the visitor doesn’t have flash a 1 second refresh sends them to the non flash site. I am curious if there is a slicker more up to date solution.

I would also like to strip out any flash detection from the main flash page. After all this has already been done. When I have tried to do that I usually mess things up badly. Is there code to insert a flash object that has no flash detection built into it?
