Tuning memory settings for Snow Leopard?

    Navarro Parker Level 3

Are there any AE memory settings that will improve performance under Snow Leopard? I know AE is still a 32-bit app, but 64-bit Windows users can assign more RAM to AE than 32-bit Win. Does the same hold for Snow Leopard?

You won't be able to have more than 4gb per process because of AE 32bitness limitation. If you want to use more than 4gb of ram, you'll have to activate multiprocessing, but that will be usefull mainly for rendering.

Windows users gets a bigger boost because Windows 32b was limiting any app to 2gb but the limitation is the same, under 64bit we don't have access to more than 4gb per process.

I've got a quad Core, and I use 7gb of ram using 3 cores dedicated to AE with 2,2gb/per core (never allow less than 2gb of ram per process in AE) while rendering.
