This doesn't really sound like a question, but I'll provide an answer anyway. If the Flex SDK team provided every component that anyone would ever want, noone would use it, because it would be so massive. Instead, they've tried to provide the components that most people will need and provided ways that you could extend components fairly easily. That way, the most common use cases are covered out of the box and the edge cases (in their mind) are available if you're willing to put a little bit of effort into extending and customizing.

Trust me I understand that, TheFlexGuy, but there is no way that 'nested properties' should be considered an edge case. Anyway, no big deal I guess, I'll get one of these other solutions to work. I was just really surprised.

Should be in 3.4. We finally decided to make everyone take the performance hit of handling it because there was enough demand.
