    Template problems

Does anyone know why when you open a template file (.indt) with 'open normal selected' it opens the indt file and not an untitled indd file as should happen

I have some indt files that open as the template and some as untitled indd files - how can i rectify this issue?

Are you absolutely certain the extension is .indT? I've never seen this happen. Double check the open as options...

There is very littel difference between template and document files. When you create a template using Save As it stores page previews for all pages, but other than that, you can convert a document from one to the other just by changing the extension, and the extension triggers the default opening behavior -- .indd opens by default as original, .indt opens by default as a copy. If this really isn't happening, for you , the first thing I'd do is trash your preferences.

I had some template files that I built in CS3 go funky and do the same thing when I opened them in CS4. Try resaving the file and make sure it has the template setting and extension. That fixed it for me.
