1. Re: PS CS3 Cannot parse the file?
dec9 Sep 11, 2009 3:15 PM (in response to Irrational Andi)Read this attachment. Has all sorts of goodies to try out. Look at the last post too. Has to do with folder placement.

2. Re: PS CS3 Cannot parse the file?
Bill Hunt Sep 11, 2009 9:36 PM (in response to Irrational Andi)PS is "anal" about file format and 100% compliance. When I encounter similar, I use one of many other programs to open the file in question, and then do a Save - same format, etc., but if that program does the work correctly, then PS has zero issues.
I find that PhotoImpact, Irfanview and ThumbsPlus all do a great job of this. They are much more leninent, and I use them as a utility to get the file ready for PS - not just PNG's.
Good luck,
Hunt

3. Re: PS CS3 Cannot parse the file?
Bill Hunt Sep 11, 2009 9:39 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Oops, just noticed that these are PNG's FROM PS. I was trying to beat the scheduled shutdown of the fora and missed that.
The only thing even close to this has been with saving .PSD's from PS without the Compatibility, and then InDesign and AI not being able to "parse the file." That should not happen, but it has to the point that I now have the Compatibility Mode set to default for me.
Sorry for my comments, as they are not likely to help you,
Hunt

4. Re: PS CS3 Cannot parse the file?
Irrational Andi Sep 11, 2009 9:44 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Thanks for trying. I have not encountered anyone with the same problem as I have. I am creating graphics in PS, saving them as a png in PS, and sometimes unable to open them in PS because of the "cannot parse the file" error.
If I can't get any answers here, I will try at Photoshop World in Vegas next month. There has to be someone there who knows the answer.
Thanks,
Irrational Andi

Irrational Andi Sep 11, 2009 9:51 PM (in response to Irrational Andi)I have checked out the thread you reccomended. It is too technical for me. I referred the thread to my IT guy. We'll see what he can do with that info.
Thanks,
Irrational Andi
