I have been using Captivate 4 for a few months with no problem. Now all of a sudden when I go to record, doesn't matter what program I'm recording, and I click to stop the recording, Captivate closes. I get no errors or anything. It just closes. I have uninstalled three times. Once right after the program closed, once right after restarting the computer and a third also clicking the delete preferences button. Still doesn't work. When you try to restart Captivate after it closes, it says it is still recording somewhere. CTRL+ALT+DELETE doesn't show Captivate running and neither does the performance tab. Running out of options on what to do next. Any help?
Perhaps try locating and clobbering your settings file?
The file is named captivate_?0.dat (? will be your Captivate version number)
On Windows XP you will normally find it here:
?:\Documents and Settings\??\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
? = Your drive letter
?? = Your logged in user name
Not sure exactly where it will be found if you are using Vista or Windows 7. Perhaps someone will chime in to say.
Try locating the file and deleting it. Then see if you are able to record without crashing.
