    create application from database

I was trying to use the "create application from database"-function in flex builder 3 in order to set up the example provided by Adobe using a connection to a MySQL-database via PHP. Unfortunately an error is thrown when I run the application:

connection error, error #1088 the markup in the document preceding the root element must be well-formed.

As far as I know, this message is caused by an error in the php-script, so I checked it via the browser and got the following message:

XML Parsing Error: junk after document element
      address: http://localhost/Test_v_0_1-debug/php/Tb_offer_dummy.php
row Nr. 2, column 1:<b>Deprecated</b>:  Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in <b>C:\wamp\www\Test_v_0_1-debug\php\XmlSerializer.class.php</b> on line <b>50</b><br />

I have attached the xmlserializer.class.php (and renamed it to .txt)

I am a beginner in PHP, so it is not clear to me what is wrong. Any idea?
