1. Re: Windows 7: Acrobat 8 crash and other glitches
Bill@VT Sep 18, 2009 6:02 AM (in response to screen name invalid)No versions of Acrobat have been certified for Win7 yet. My student got AA9 to work fine on Win7. We have not tried AA8. The errors you are having (other than the crash) are characteristic of a WORD that needs updating. Try that before you blame it on Acrobat. Acrobat creates what is sent to it and the kind of errors you are having are more characteristic of WORD created errors. The type of page number problem you are having is a WORD problem as I recall.
For the font, do you mean you have the Adobe PDF printer set to embed the font and it is not embedding? It is not clear what you mean other than it is not displaying. More information is needed. Be aware that OFFICE 2007 has been a problem on XP and VISTA machines also, where OFFICE 2003 works fine.
There seem to be several issues with OFFICE 2007, whether bugs or intentional hooks to mess up Acrobat it is not clear and probably impossible to prove one way or the other. I have even found that within OFFICE, there is a difference between DOCX and DOC that cause some wierd results. I refuse to use DOCX as a result. In one case I found that a vector graphic in DOCX appeared to be replacing fonts with line graphics. Not what I would normally want.

3. Re: Windows 7: Acrobat 8 crash and other glitches
screen name invalid Oct 29, 2009 8:27 AM (in response to Bill@VT)So, are there any news about my reported problems? After the recent update Acorbat 8.1.7 these problemes still exists! IE8 crash and Adobe PDF Printer is still useless with Office 2007 (SP2 + all newer patches + using .docx format - thx bill@vt).
To the fonts:
I used this options: embedd all fonts + warn if fails
I tried also recently: embedd all fonts + abort if fails
In last case the pdf building actually fails! But there is no lock upon the Cambria font icon (I remember to read that in a manual, if the font is secured...)
Other tools like the embedded Office 2007 pdf printer or any other freeware pdf printers really work like a charm.
Adobe, now it's your turn!

Franklin49 Feb 9, 2010 12:22 AM (in response to Bernd Alheit)I have thea upgrade version of Acrobat 8 Standard. I was able to install Acrobat 6 Standard - It didn't run, but it allowed me to install version 8 which seems to be working OK. - However I have been unable to install Photoshop CS3 and wonder if there is a conflict of some kind. - Many people but not everybody have had trouble to get CS3 to install under Windows 7.
