Ok, at least I know now.
Thanks for your answer
One thing I forgot to ask was, when adding the transitions to the timeline, it wants to position it on only one side or in the middle of two clips. Is there a way I can get it to position on the opposite side? For example, it wants to position on the end of the clip but I want it to position on the start of the next clip. Would this even make any difference? Its just that its fading into the next clip before the previous clip finishes which is not what I want. Maybe there is a certain transition for this?
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
In the Effect Controls panel select the alignment and set to center, start at or end at or custom.
Much of where a Transition is positioned will depend on your Clips, themselves. Here's another topic for your "Autumn Reading List" - Handles.
The understanding of these will go a very long way to understanding the placement and operation of Transitions.
Here's a short bit on Handles, but the manual (if they still have those) and the Help files will give you a lot more info.
Initially, Handles are a bit of an abstract concept, but once you get it, you'll fully understand some of the behavior of Transitions. Well worth reading.
