Are you placing this into a HTML page or are you trying to place this directly into Flash? If in Flash, then how are you using it? Is it a string? Are you trying to display the information in a TextField?
Remember, Flash only supports a limited number of basic HTML tags. <embed> and <object> are not support (inside Flash).
Thank you for responding! Ok, I know I am doing something wrong. What I am doing is placing the external tag directly into the action script pane without giving it any commands. Do I need to load the script first somehow? In regards to <embed> and <object> tags, I recently tried this external basic tag command:
<a href=http://www.coolmyspacecomments.com><img src=http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3/ksriver80/t1/02.gif title="MySpace Comment Codes" border=0></a><br><left><a href=' http://www.coolmyspacecomments.com'><font size="2">MySpace Comments Graphics</font></a></left>
I get the same error so I think I need to place them in a form a text or something. Hope you can help me. I already have the beer chilling in the refrigerator :)
you can't get flash to respond to that code. you can display that code (for users to see), but that's about all you can do with it in flash.
what are you trying to accomplish?
your second post contains some code that flash could use in an html-enabled textfield though i think you'll have some security issues if the gif is not in the same domain as your flash html.
your font tags won't work but using a graphic as a link (in an html-enabled textfield) is managable.
Here is exactly what I want to do:
I want to be able to display photos in my flash made web site from a service (Photobucket.com) that provides free video and photo sharing. They provide free services for people to host and link images and videos to social networks, personal websites, auction sites, blogs, and message boards.
When you download pictures in there service, they offer options for you to create certain flash photo animation displays, along with a tag code that can link your photo animations to ones personal website (go to http://www.myspace.com/48430279 for example of type of animation). My personal web site is 100% all flash. Also, there are other web sites ( http://www.dolliecrave.com/) that give out free basic html tags, like the tag on my second comment, to use on web sites like myspace and other.
I can’t seem to be able to load those tags either. So, is flash not able to write out forms of html? :)
open flash, create an html-enabled multiline textfield (with instance name tf) large enough to contain the graphics you want to display and add the following code to your first frame:
I hope you don’t give up helping me.
I created a text field on the stage and assigned the text field an instance of tf in the property inspector. Then I went to the Action toolbox and doubled clicked the multilane (TextField) and I got <not set yet>.multiline. So I set it to: html-enabled.multiline
Then, under properties, I place the code that you gave me into the first frame.
I tested the scene and nothing, yet. I think I am doing this wrong. Hope you can help me. THANK YOU !
in the properties panel:
1) give your textfield an instance name of tf (which you did)
2) click the "render as html" button
3) in the line type dropdown box select multiline
and in the actions panel:
4) click on the timeline frame that contains your tf and in the actions panel paste the code in my above message.
After exactly following your steps I was able to display something--See http://www.csun.edu/~mgg32077/a.swf for sample--it showed the link of the graphic but not the graphic itself (I made certain that the text field was big enough but no luck). Any suggestions? ? I am going to be the happiest man alive if I can figure this out. Thanks !
FYI, I am using Flahs 6
is your textfield multiline????
Yes, my textfield is multiline.
you can post a link to your fla or check:
Dude, you made my day! At first, your file did not work on my flash software but then I tried it over at a friends house and it worked just fine. THANK YOU ! I’m still clueless of why I can’t get it to work on my computer. I started a new file and I had everything exactly how you told me to… I still can’t figure out what I am doing wrong (see my .fla file at
Anyways, I wanted to thank for all of your help. Other flash experts I was in touch with were not so helpful. As a matter of fact, a few of them made me feel dumb and said that flash was to go inside an HTML page, not the other way around (this is true in some way).
One last favor (I know I might be pushing it but you really seemed to know your stuff.), is there a way you can format the following code for me into a tf htmlText? I HAVE NOT forgotten about the beer I promised you :)
<embed src=" http://flash.picturetrail.com/pflicks/acrobatcube_r.swf" loop="false"quality="high"FlashVars="backopacity=100&cubecroptofit=
your fla has its publish settings set at flash 6. when you change to flash 8, everything works as expected.
regarding that embed code: you can load the jpgs used by the cube, but i can't get the rotating cube itself to load.
My flash does not publish beyond flash 6 settings...I know, I know, I need to upgrade. Thanks for all the help… below is the beer I promised!
you're welcome. but it looks like i'll have to lick the table to get most of that beer.
