Ok, your audio chipset in in the motherboard. HD Audio is made by realtek, check on their website they have a beta driver for Windows 7 / Windows 7x64 that was released late this summer, it may solve your problem.

Thanks, I've downloaded the driver but how do you replace drivers on Windows 7? It's not letting me replace it with the Realtek one, keeps reverting to the Microsoft one
Have you got the administrative rights ?
Assuming you have admin rights, it may hinge on the driver signature. Only signed drivers are supposed to be installed and W7 is even more rigid in that regard than Vista. I believe you can still turn it off in your group policy editor's (gpedit.msc) security section, though.
