2. Re: Anchoring text boxes to each other
P Spier Sep 24, 2009 8:05 AM (in response to dpajewski)The way to keep these anchored to the text position is, oddly enough, as anchored objects, which is covered pretty well in the help files. Unfortunatley you cannot have an anchored object on a different layer from the text in which it is anchored, so I'm not sure what you want to do is possible in CS3.
My guess is you are using the second layer to hide the instructor notes in student edition. In CS4 this would be a piece of cake using conditional text, but that feature is not available in CS3.

3. Re: Anchoring text boxes to each other
BobLevine Sep 24, 2009 8:12 AM (in response to P Spier)You could create a new object style for the anchored objects and then add the non printing attribute (found under the text wrap and other pane) to it for the student edition.
With one click you'd take care of the whole thing.

dpajewski Sep 24, 2009 9:01 AM (in response to BobLevine)Thank you both for your quick replies. I kinda figured I could not anchor across layers. Now I'll just tell the boss we need to upgrade!
Thanks again!

6. Re: Anchoring text boxes to each other
dpajewski Sep 24, 2009 12:19 PM (in response to Harbs.)The problem is that the customer wants to be able to turn layers on and off to see the Instructor Notes and the Student Notes. So when I made it non-printing, it goes away all together. I need to keep it as layers.

7. Re: Anchoring text boxes to each other
Harbs. Sep 24, 2009 12:27 PM (in response to dpajewski)You can just turn the non printing attribute on and off in the style...
If that's too cumbersome, you can write a script to toggle it...

8. Re: Anchoring text boxes to each other
BobLevine Sep 24, 2009 12:45 PM (in response to dpajewski)Show them how to turn it on or off in the style. I agree it would nice if you could anchor it across the layers because then you could export a layered PDF and turn it on or off there.
