I think this is quite a simple question, but I'd like to check with you, since you are the experts.
I have an image that was generated by a bit of software, a simple program. The program knows nothing about colour profiles sRGB or otherwise. So, the image is linear (gamma 1.0). I want to edit it in Photoshop, keeping it linear, so that I can send it to another program that also has no concept of gamma, or colour space (I will not view it with the other program). What colour profile should I use so that it appears correct in PS on my calibrated monitor and stays linear when I save it?
I think what I am really interested in is the recommended linear workflow in PS.
You'll need to get yourself a gamma 1.0 RGB profile to assign to your synthetic image. You can either create one in Photoshop, or adapt one from AdobeRGB, sRGB, proPhotoRGB, or whatever. Check out "Creating linear color profiles" here:
Hope this helps.
That is a great help, thanks.
