I created an empty movie clip and I'm loading an image into
it and that works fine, however when I load a GIF with a
transparent background the image fails to display. I switched it to
PNG, same thing. Then I changed it to JPG with a black background
and it works (of course without the transparency which I need).
Then I converted the GIF image to an SWF and it displays
fine, BUT now the event handlers I set for mouse press and release
don't work, they did work for non-transparent GIF and JPEG., so I'm
stuck. I need transparency and I need to be able to call startDrag
from within a mouse press and release.
Is there something special I need to do to get this to work
with GIF's with transparency or SWF files?
I'm using Flash MX 2004 professional with Flash Player 8.
Really? Because I just tried it and it didn't work for me.
JPEGs work just fine in both, but no gif or pngs (with or without
transparency) at all under Flash 7. I'm using the Flash 8 trial
version and publishing for Flash 7.
