how can you force pdf to open in reader instead of browser?

    Ken Pattillo

We wish to deliver completed tax forms with sensitive data to self service users but are aware that pdf files opened in IE are cached in temporary internet files, where they can be later retrieved, posing a security risk.  Is there a way to force pdfs to open in Reader, or better yet, prevent them from being opened in browsers, particularly IE (both 7 and 8 store the cached file)?  I have already checked the registry setting default value for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and it points to the Reader executable.

Thanks in advance for sharing your ideas.  Ken
