I moved the whole folder under
C:\Documents and Settings\"my user"\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings
to my desktop and restarted illustrator so it would start anew.. It still crashed with the same image above.
Im not too sure about the CS4 clean suggestion though.. It states "experienced by users of Adobe Creative Suite 4 software" I don't have Adobe Creative Suite 4. This is purely the sole Adobe Illustrator program alone. Would you still recommend this?

I believe it is certainly worth a try.Nothing will be lost when you have no other Adobe applications.
The introdustion says: ... The script can clean up install records for any beta and pre-release installations of Adobe Creative Suite 4 or Point Products...
So you should be able to follow the instructions, just installng only Illy instead of the whole suite.
Thanks for the help, but I'm somewhat worried about doing that. I already activated it using the serial number. Since it crashes before I can do anything, I can't deactivate it. I'm worried that when I uninstall the software and do the script clean thing, it won't allow me to reactivate it once installed again.
I also think I misinterpreted something. This was a download of the software alone, not part of a suit or combination of software.. Total, I have flash, dreamweaver, and illustrator, each one purchased individually, but only Illustrator is acting up.
Edit: This is 2 hours after this original reply.. I have received help outside of this discussion thread. It suggested disabling startup programs and re-enableing them one by one to find the problem source. Though disabling all them did not solve the problem, when they were all re-enabled Adobe Illustrator started working again.. I'm not sure why it's working, but I can't look a gift horse in the mouth.. I'll accept that it's working. Thanks again for the help though. It is appreciated
You are welcome, Suchiban, and thank you for reporting back. Sometimes, we shall never know what made the difference. I will remember the solution.
