Most adjustment and mod can be made into a layer that can be turned on/off without modifying the main background layer (original photo).
When it comes to cropping, is there a similar feature?
I want to output a photo cropped several ways for a friend to choose, without permenantly cropping the background layer.
If there is such thing as a crop adjustment layer that would crop the photo when turned on, that would be perfect. Otherwise, how do I store several different croppings with the original photo all in one psd file?
For that matter, it would also be useful to have a rotation adjustment layer so that I can rotate and crop several ways without permanently rotating the photo.
I don't use them in my own work but have you looked at Layer Comps?

2. Re: Is there a "crop adjustment layer"?
Zeno Bokor Oct 4, 2009 12:52 AM (in response to avpromedia)Just turn your background layer into a normal layer by double clicking on it. When you're using Image->Canvas Size or the Crop tool set to Hide, it won't delete the contents of the normal layers, only that of the background layer.

Bill Hunt Oct 4, 2009 10:08 AM (in response to John Joslin)Layer Comps are the way to go. I use them all the time for animations in Titles, and similar, in video. I also use the History Palette (Panel now) liberally.
The OP will benefit from your links too.
Thanks,

4. Re: Is there a "crop adjustment layer"?
avpromedia Oct 5, 2009 8:22 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)I just played with layer comp and they are useful, so is the hide option in cropping.
However, they still don't address my original question, which is, how to store different crop settings. If layer comp also stores the crop setting that would be perfect, but it doesn't in CS2.
I can get access to CS4 if the layer comp in that version can store crop setting.
