Yes, I did.
Use PodContentBase as a container for your mxml component to place inside the Pod, remove the extra stuff that is there to parse the xml.
public class PodContentBase extends VBox
percentWidth = 100;
percentHeight = 100;
your mxml will be
<mx:Label text="Test Pods"/>
