            Steve Grisetti Adobe Community Professional

Premiere Elements does not do this. It is a video editor.

            Check out the program Camtasia.

Are you talking about "screen capturing" where you would record what you are doing in Premiere Elements 8 in order to demonstrate the use of the program (like in video tutorials)? Or, are you referring to "freeze frame" where you capture a frame into a .bmp, .jpg, targa, or .tiff image?

If it is "screen capture", then Steve Grisetti's suggestion of Camtasia Studio 6 is an excellent choice. I have used that program and found it to be excellent, with special praise for its audio enhancement feature.

If it is "freeze frame", then in Premiere Elements 8 check out:

              a. Camera looking icon at the bottom right of Edit Mode Monitor

              b. Share/Personal Computer/Image

Please refer to my details on this in the Premiere Elements 8 First Look thread that I had running in this forum.

Please let us know the outcome.

              Thank you.

For Frame Capture (in PrE 4), here is a look at that "camera" icon:

As both Steve and ATR point out, if you wish something else, there are ways to do so, though outside of PrE. Please let us know exactly what it is, that you wish to do.

                Good luck,

Here is a link to the Premiere Elements 8 First Look thread that I have been contributing to in this forum

Scroll down to post #42 where you should find a full description of the Premiere Elements 8 new Share/Personal Computer/Image and a use comparison between it and the Freeze Frame (Camera) icon at the bottom right of the Edit Mode Monitor as demo'd in Premiere Elements 4 screenshot posted by Hunt.

As you will read in the link, Premiere Elements 8 has features

                  a. Freeze Frame Icon

                  b. new Share/Personal Computer/Image

whereas, earlier versions, like 4 and 7, have

                  a. Freeze Frame Icon

                  b. File Menu/Export/Frame

Looking forward to clarification on what you need for your project.
