as a beginner I am not sure if it is a good idea to install all the newest versions of PHP (5.3), mySQL (5.1.36) and Apache (2.2.11) together with Flash Builder 4 beta2, also bearing in mind that webhosters often support only older versions. The system requirements of FB4 mention PHP 5.1 - does it mean that every version beginning with 5.1 is supported? What would be an ideal combination of PHP, mySQL and Apache on Windows?
Thanks for your answers.
I'd definitely save myself the headache of configuring each separate component and download a bundled package like xampp or wamp (I use xampp, which is a bit more popular).
As far as PHP compatibility, I think the onus here is really on Zend. As long as the Zend_Amf service within your Zend Framework folder is up to date, there shouldn't be any problem (whether you're using PHP 5.1, 5.3, or future 5.4). And so yes, I'd say 5.1 on is/will be supported.
best o luck,
In the meanwhile I installed the newest version of XAMPP. Everything seems to work fine :-)
