In an AIR app I want to be able to drag the URL and favicon from the browser address bar. The URL comes in fine but I can't figure out how to get that favicon - there is no bitmap info in the clipboard as reported by AIR. I have figured out how to do this successfully from the favorites list or the pinned URLs in IE or from a Windows desktop but I can't do it from the address bar - where you enter the url yourself. On dragging from there the OS shows a nice graphic of the URL and the icon so it must be somewhere handy. I really don't want to go looking into the favicon.ico link in the html - there must be a better way.
I don't think there is another way. The image is in the drag proxy because the originating application set the image. The image has nothing to do with payload on the clipboard.
It is unfortunate that other parts of IE (and the Windows desktop shortcuts) make available a FILE_LIST upon dropping but not from the address bar. Firefox also does not make FILE_LIST info available for any part of it - from Bookmarks, address bar or pinned bookmarks. Perhaps with AIR 2.0 there will be some way to get at the OS information including the favicons. Thanks for your response.
