I think this is a limitation of Flash. I have not been able to fade in/out dynamic text.
Have you embedded the fonts you use?
Have you tried making it a movie clip and applying one of the filters to it?
Masks over dynamic text don't work unless you embed the font, I've found.
yes, the d-text is a mc and i have tried breaking apart the text and worked but the swf size increased dramatically.
edit: just tried font embedding and it's WORKING! Thank you guys for pointing me to the right direction.

Dynamic text can have anything done to it, just like static text. You just
have to be sure to embed. Select a dynamic field, in the Properties Panel,
click the Embed... button. Choose character sets to embed. I will normally
use Uppercase, Lowercase, Numerals, and Punctuation.
