John T Smith Oct 15, 2009 5:53 PM (in response to INTYME1985)Intel i7
When I have the $$ and after CS5 is released (Hopefully in 64bit) I am going to build a new computer... this will be for SD only, and I will NOT overclock the Asus motherboard and I do not need Raid... as much as possible, I am buying when Newegg has free shipping on the item I want (I am going to buy the CPU & Ram & MB last, just before I start building, in case there is a problem and I need to return anything)
If I were going to edit HD video, I would replace the single 1-T drive with a RAID setup for faster I/O - but, since I've never had any I/O problems with a single data drive on my old computer, I see no reason for raid on this computer
It should work, but if Win2k and the Pinnacle Dv500 I have won't work with this new motherboard, I will buy an ADVC-300 external device $400 at http://www.academicsuperstore.com/products/Grass+Valley/ADVC+Digital+Video+Converters/7039 31 to work with my old analog camcorder (plus old VHS tapes I am slowly converting to DVD)

Bill Gehrke Oct 16, 2009 11:31 AM (in response to John T Smith)Buying everthing from one source is easy but rather than spending $279 for your i7 processor take a look at the Microcenter price of only $199!
