Just got a new Panasonic HD camera. It's saving my files in AVCHD format - too compressed for my system to handle under Premiere Pro.
I keep reading snips of dialog in the forum about Cineform and how it can convert my AVCHD files into AVI files that Premiere can manage. Is this true? How much is this gonna cost?
Any other advice would be welcome.
Thanks in advance!
I'd recommend some reading on the Cineform web site.
I use Cineform Prospect HD for all HD editing. It is brilliant IMO.
Cineform will convert AVCHD into 10 bit, 4:2:2, near lossless .avi files for bulletproof editing and exceptionally high quality output to numerous delivery formats.
However, this stuff is not plug n' play- there's a learning curve & inevetable little snags along the way. But for me, it has been well worth the journey.
