1. Re: CS3: Sound Clips on Timeline Contain no Sound
Jeff Bellune Oct 23, 2009 5:23 AM (in response to pcford)Select a clip with missing audio and park the CTI over the clip
somewhere. Do a Match Frame operation. Does the audio come back?

pcford Oct 23, 2009 8:04 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)You da man!
However, I guess I don't understand what happened and why match frame causes audio to return.

4. Re: CS3: Sound Clips on Timeline Contain no Sound
pcford Oct 23, 2009 8:57 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)I have divided a two hour project into three parts. The third part was intact. The first and second had the audio disappear (no waveform, no sound) Strange thing is that your suggestion worked on the first part but not on the second.

5. Re: CS3: Sound Clips on Timeline Contain no Sound
Jeff Bellune Oct 23, 2009 9:15 AM (in response to pcford)How long did you wait between opening the project and performing the match frame? If the project can't find the .pek files that contain the waveform or the .cfa audio files that store the conformed audio, then nothing will work until the project finishes conforming the audio and generating the peak files.

pcford Oct 23, 2009 9:28 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)I opened part three up again, desiring to let the project just be open for a while before attempting to match frame....When I reopened the project, the waveforms were back.
Mysteries of technology.....

Bill Hunt Oct 23, 2009 12:51 PM (in response to pcford)Glad that it's working now. Sometimes, I think that the .PEK files get bored and go hang out in My Pictures, or someplace. Maybe they get tired, and just take a nap? I've never been sure. Fortunately, the only time I have lost them, has been when there was a Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V used someplace. Once, that worked fine, and I had already Rendered that segment sevral dozen times. Next Render and everything went "flatline!" Why then? Why not earlier on? No clue. Match got them back and they did not misbehave on that Project for the next month. Maybe they learned their lesson?
Good luck,
Hunt
