How to get Powerpoints to run automatically under Director?

    Level 7
      Hello,

I'd like to load Powerpoint presentations dynamically so that they would
play by itself and also exit automatically back to Director. This is
possible to accomplish with the Full Powerpoint package installed into a
computer and turning the option "enable last slide" to off so that the
Powerpoint show plays automatically with original slide timings and finally
exits without any user intervention. However, the problem is the full
package is very expensive and it's not really needed (costs around 280 $).
We could do with the Viewer, but there we have the "last slide" problem (a
user needs to always click the black screen after the last slide). And there
is no way to get around this small, annoying property of the viewer.

I've also looked at different Xtras, but it seems they are outdated and only
support Viewer 97. Xtra should also load the whole presentation into one
cast member not using the timeline. That's why Calu Xtra is not an option
for us. With the browser based ActiveX approach we end up with the "last
      slide" problem.

Can this really be this difficult? Or do you people have a secret weapon? :)

if you have it running in Director then why not fake a click?... it might just happen fast enough to not really show the "last slide" black screen too long.... speaking of which, if it's a bunch of separate slides running one after the other then why can't you combine the slides into one presentation and have that single PPT run from Director?

            Hi,

            Thank you for your comments!

Yes, all slides are combined inside one presentation and all we want is to
run that automatically under Director so that Director gets the control
after the show finishes. The problem launching the presentation from the
Director using installed PP viewer is that there is no way to find out what
slide is shown and that is why we don't know when the "faked" click should
happen. We can't use timer either, bcz the length of the show can vary.
