There's a wonderful feature under the Help menu called Keyboard Shortcuts. In there, under Layers, you'll find that the [ moves the in point to the CTI and ] moves the out point to the CTI (current time indicator).
Hope this helps.
Do they have "sarcastic answer" as an option LOL, j/k
That helps a little, I've been there and there are a lot of helpful shortcuts. I guess if it's not there it doesn't exist huh?
Definitely, if it's not there, it doesn't exist.
Or perhaps, "if it's not there and it does exist, you should definitely let us know."
What are you referring to? Layers can be temporally aligned to the CTI with the [ and ] keys and their derivative keys using Alt as modifier (trim/ extend to CTI). I'm using those commands all the time, on a German keyboard of course, where they are tied to the Ö and Ä keys.
Yes, I think the original poster just meant that in the future he will rather look for shorctus there in the fist place, and if it's not listed, it doesn't exist.
on my keyboard the [ and ] are on the F and G button
can somebody tell me how can i press [ and ] instead of F & G? again F and [ are on the same place, and G and ] are on the same place
i tried with ctrl+f alt+f altGr+f shift+f but i cant make it work
is there any idea how can i activate the [ and ] shortcuts on my keyboard
thank you for the help!
Sounds like some weird notebook keyboard layout. In that case this will most likely never work and require you to edit the keyboard shortcuts. this can be done by using the KeyEdUp script from Adobe Exchange or by manually hacking the shortcuts.txt file.
thanks for the reply
i tried to find this shortcuts.txt but i didnt, so i googled some info about it:
it says the shortcuts.txt should be here:
Documents and Settings\[user profile]\Application Data\Adobe\After Effects\8.0\
but i didnt find any shortcuts.txt nor in this folder neither in the doc and settings folder
i only found shortcuts.txt in the
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS3\Resources"
folder but here are a lot this kind of file, and i cant choose which is the after effects txt (there are only folders with names like ar cs da de ect...)
so i just dont know how can i find that source.txt
i guess there is no way to change my keyboard layout within AE
The file is correctly called Adobe After Effects 8.0 Shortcuts.txt and is located in C:\Users\[You]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\8.0 on Win vista/ Windows 7, C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Adobe\After Effects\8.0 on Win XP. These folders are system folders and invisible by default, so you may need to adjust your Explorer folder view options first. The commands you will be looking for in the file are as follows:
"TimeSetIn" "TimeSetOut" "TimeStretchIn" "TimeStretchOut" "TimeTrimIn" "TimeTrimOut"
i found it
