I am trying to make a portfolio using multiple artboards in CS3 but when I save it crashes every time (i have been saving as .ai or PDF). It takes a few minutes to save and during this time it will generally quit giving me an error message. I suspect this has to do with the huge file size in illustrator. Each artboard contains a file I made in photoshop and placed into the artboard. Many of these photoshop files are huge to start out with (ie 300mb).
I am not super experienced with illustrator and know there must be a way to have multiple pages come up in a single document. How do I go about this? Any advice is appreciated!
CS3 does NOT support or allow multiple artboards.
the closest you can come (to multiple pages) using CS3 is to use multiple 'layers'--which is probably what you're doing.
When you try to save--you are trying to save a huge file--maybe uncheck the 'preserve illustrator editing capibilities' when saving a PDF--save your PDFs one layer at a time i.e. layer 1--save as-----layer 2--save as.
just a thought--if you have illustrator CS3---don't you also have Indesign CS3 (it's all part of the same program suite) Indesign will allow multiple pages....
I am actually using cs4, sorry for the misinformation. I posted to a cs4 forum on this same topic just now since I haven't resolved the issue. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/506198?tstart=0
I would like to be able to go back and edit, so I think i will want to keep that checked when saving as an .ai file correct?
