I have one Illustrator file that automatically embeds (quite randomly) all previoulsy LINKED images after my computer has been turned off or after I have saved the file a few times.
Has anyone else come across this problem? I am working on about 10 illustrator files at the moment and it only occurs with one of the files - but it continuously happens. The images in this file are no larger than those in the other files. It occurs if I just have this one file open so I don't think it is a memory issue.
I contacted Adobe support and they have suggested I reinstall Illustrator.
I am curious if anyone else has had this problem. If so, how did you deal with it?
You probably save the file with the option to include link files.
When saving the file do a save as then uncheck the box that says include link files.
That will appear is the Illustator save options dialog the one that gives you the options to save it back to another version and pdf compatible and all that stuff.
Once you do this save as the next time you save it it will not embed the linked files.
The reason it happens only to this files is that it is document specific.
Solved - thanks!
