    Help with finding content on one of the pages in the content menu

    ocean_side5465 Level 1

      I am a designer working in a flash file on the navigation part. The web site (is not yet posted) works fine but I need to change the contents when the menu is clicked (contact us, etc. ..). I need to find where the information is so I can change the address, phone number, info. but I have looked everywhere and cannot find it. Where could it be hiding? I did not create the file so I am stuck. Is anyone able to help? Is there anything in the file I can post that would help solve this? -newbie

      Does this help?

      on (rollOver) {
          if (_root.link<>num) {
              this.useHandCursor = true;
              _parent.gotoAndPlay("s1");
          } else {
              this.useHandCursor = false;
          }
      }
      on (releaseOutside, rollOut) {
          if (_root.link<>num) {
              _parent.gotoAndPlay("s2");
          }
      }
      on (release) {
          if (_root.link<>num and _root.animation == 1) {
              _root.animation = 0;
              _parent._parent["item"+_root.link].gotoAndPlay("s2");
              _root.link_prev = _root.link;
              _root.link = num;
              _root.play();
          }
      }

          in the flash test environment click view/bandwidth profiler.  then click one of your buttons.  you'll be able to see which frames of the main timeline play when that button is clicked.  make a note of those frames and go check those frames in the authoring environment.  the content on-stage in those frames is the content you need to edit.

          it's also possible to create content with code only and not have content on-stage.  but anyone that would write code like you showed is unlikely to be able to do that.

            Hi Kglad,

            I found this actionscript on frame 85.

            stop();
            _root.animation = 1;

            Not sure what that means.

            The stuff on stage that I can see on running thru frame 85 corresponds with the other menu items on the welcome page which is why I am confused where the phone number is. I also checked all the library contents. Could it be masked out somewhere? Weird...

              I've made a discovery:

              I found this xml file. Now how do I make this change artistically if I want to draw a box and make it a certain color, line weight, add a picture, like I would in layout, not as code?

              <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
              <contactFormStructure>

                  <formItems>

                      <item id="1" label="Name" required="true">
                          <textToShow>Name Box:</textToShow>
                      </item>

                      <item id="2" label="E-mail" required="true">
                          <textToShow>E-mail:</textToShow>
                          <validator>EmailValidator</validator>
                      </item>

                      <item id="3" label="Fax">
                          <textToShow>Fax:</textToShow>
                                      <restrict>+-.0-9</restrict>
                      </item>

                      <item id="4" label="Message" required="true">
                          <textToShow>Message:</textToShow>
                      </item>

                  </formItems>

              </contactFormStructure>

                that xml file is most likely related to a contact form and specifies certain textfields and nothing else.
