I have an excel file I would like to put in indesign. My idea was to save the excel file as xml and then use a dtd to put the xml file into indesign. Has anyone done this before with a produce spec sheet? Does this sound like a good game plan?
You can import excel directly
but I was thinking in order to apply the formatting and make it a little more automated I would need xml and a dtd. Or can I do that directly with excel?
You can import table of excel formated
sheetIndex is the number of sheet do you want import
app.excelImportPreferences.sheetIndex = sheetIndex;
var obj = app.activeDocument.pages[document.pages.length-1].textFrames;
var textDesc = obj.add( app.activeDocument.layers, LocationOptions.atEnd, document.pages[document.pages.length-1] );
